Pass-Pass Dominoes Game Rules

  • Pass-Pass Dominoes is a 4-player partnership game played using double-6 dominoes set. The game was invented by Stéphane Viallet.
  • Each player gets 6 tiles at the beginning of each round. Remaining tiles are set aside forming a boneyard.
  • The lead player in first round is selected randomly. Lead is passed clockwise to next player in subsequent rounds.
  • There is no spinner in the game so a double can only be played at two ends.
  • First player can start with any tile and subsequent players take turn clockwise to play a matching domino.
  • A player must play if a move is possible.
  • If a player can not play, then he/she draws from the boneyard. If drawn tile can be played, then it must be immediately played else turn should be passed to the next player. If there is no tile in the boneyard, then turn automatically passes to the next player.
  • There are two special rules in this game
  • Bonus Turn - If two ends of the layout total 10 or 5 after playing a tile, then player gets another turn.
  • Skip Turn - If two ends of the layout are equal or total 7 after playing a tile, then next player loses his/her turn making player's partner getting the next turn.
  • Doubles at the end of the layout are worth its pips count.
  • The round ends if a player has played all of his/her tiles. Round can also end if the game is blocked which means no tile can be played by any of the players.
  • Round is won by the team of first player who played all his/her tiles. Winning team scores 0 points for the round and losing team scores total pips count of remaining tiles in their hand.
  • If a round is blocked then teams score number of tiles remaining in their respective hands.
  • The game is played for 7 rounds and team with lower score after 7 rounds wins the game.
