Pass and Out Dominoes Game Rules

  • Pass and Out is a variant of Block Dominoes invented by Andy Lewicki. The game can be played by 2, 3 or 4 players using a double-6 dominoes set.
  • First turn or lead in the first round is decided by a draw of lot. In subsequent rounds turn to play first passes clockwise.
  • Each player gets 7 tiles at the start of each round. Remaining tiles (only in 2 or 3 players game) are set aside and not used in the game.
  • The first player can start with any tile and subsequent players can play a matching tile to any of the two open ends of the sequence.
  • There is no spinner in the game so a double can only be played at two ends.
  • If a player is unable to play, then he/she discards all remaining tiles in his/her hand and drops out for the current round. The player who most recently played a tile scores points equal to number of tiles in player's hand who just dropped out.
  • The round will be over if either one player dominoes or, when all players but one have dropped out of the game.
  • If one player dominoes, he wins points equal to the number of tiles in the remaining players' hands.
  • When all players but one have dropped out and the last player is able to play a tile then he/she scores points equal to remaining tiles in his/her own hand. If the last player is blocked and can not play, then no point is scored.
  • At the start of a hand, if the second player is unable to play on the initial tile and has to drop out, the first player scores twice the number of tiles remaining in the second player's hand (which is equal to 14). This rule is only applicable if the second player is unable to play on the first tile.
  • The game is played for multiple rounds and the highest player to score 31 or more points at the end of a round wins.
